Heading to Disney? Avoid These Mistakes with In-Park Dining!

Excitement levels skyrocket as you gear up for your much-awaited Disney vacation. Amidst all the thrill, it's easy to overlook some crucial decisions you need to make in advance, particularly when it comes to booking dining reservations within the parks. To ensure you have a magical dining experience, here are five first-timer mistakes to steer clear of:

EPCOT - Rose & Crown (United Kingdom)

1. Give Yourself Adequate Travel Time

Finding your way to a restaurant can take a little longer than you expect. Whether it's walking within the parks or hopping between locations, leaving extra travel time is a smart move. Bus and boat lines can get quite busy, impacting your arrival time. Don't stress yourself out by rushing between places. Even if you're driving, unpredictable traffic can delay your plans. Here are some frequently asked questions about navigating the Disney parks via the My Disney Experience app.

2. Avoid Overbooking Your Day

It's tempting to squeeze in that "one last ride" before your reservation, but beware—it can backfire! Long lines may slow you down, and suddenly, you find yourself arriving 40 minutes late for your dining experience. While the cast members might try to accommodate you, busy periods could make it challenging to rearrange your schedule. Leave some breathing room in your day to avoid running from one place to another at the last minute.

3. Booking a Reservation in another Park Without Park Hopper

For first-time visitors, locating all the restaurants inside the vast Disney parks can be a bit challenging. Some dining spots may require park admission tickets for entry. Take EPCOT, for example, where several dining options lie outside the park's gates. Make sure you have access to the park you are reserving in—either plan to be there that day or opt for the Park Hopper ticket to hop between parks. Remember, if your plans change and you lack the Park Hopper, you might need to adjust or cancel some reservations.

4. Be Patient—Your Table Might Not Be Ready Right Away

Timing is everything, even with dining reservations. In popular eateries, you may have to wait a bit for your table to be ready, despite your precise booking time. This wait can range from 5 to 30 minutes. Unless you're dining at the restaurant's opening, such delays can happen due to unforeseen factors like late-staying guests. Keep a block of time free after your meal, so you don't feel rushed if dinner runs late, or use it to enjoy leisurely attractions if everything goes as planned.

Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen - Sustainable Fish (Not Piranha)

5. Don't Ignore Dress Code Requirements

While most dining locations have a relaxed dress code—some upscale restaurants under Fine Dining or Signature Dining might have more sophisticated requirements. Even if strict enforcement is rare, it's best not to feel underdressed. For example, what's acceptable at Skipper Canteen might not fly at Victoria & Alberts.

Now you’re ready to gear up for an enchanting dining adventure at Disney, armed with these valuable tips to make your in-park dining reservations a memorable and hassle-free experience. Embrace the magic, savor the flavors, and bask in the enchantment that only Disney can deliver!

Imagine strolling down Main Street, U.S.A., with the sun shining brightly above and the anticipation of exploring the wonders of Walt Disney World bubbling inside you. Hydration ensures you maintain optimum health and vitality throughout your visit, allowing you to fully embrace the excitement, joy, and wonder that awaits in every park.

Summer at Walt Disney World is a dazzling blend of adventure and warmth. While the sun adds an extra sparkle to the kingdom, it also brings soaring temperatures. Proper hydration becomes even more critical as the heat can quickly drain your energy and leave you fatigued. By replenishing your body's fluids, you equip yourself to combat the heat, stay comfortable, and make the most of your time at the park.

Tips for a Refreshing Experience

1. Carry a refillable water bottle: Take advantage of the numerous water fountains and hydration stations conveniently located throughout the park.

2. Set hydration reminders: Use your phone or an app to schedule regular alerts prompting you to take a few sips of water.

3. Opt for water-rich snacks: Indulge in delicious watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges to satisfy cravings and provide a hydrating boost.

4. Take shade breaks: Seek refuge from the sun's rays, hydrate, relax, and plan your next adventure.

5. Consider electrolyte drinks: Replenish essential minerals lost through sweat with low-sugar options.

6. Embrace indoor attractions: Enjoy air-conditioned environments while hydrating and recharging.

7. Be mindful of caffeine and alcohol: Balance indulgences with extra water consumption to avoid dehydration.

8. Stay hydrated before and after your visit: Pre-hydrating sets a solid foundation, and post-hydration ensures your body recovers.

Hey there, fellow Disney enthusiasts! If you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, you gotta be quick on the draw when it comes to snagging those Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs). Believe us, you don't wanna end up chomping on a burger at Cosmic Ray's when you could be feasting on the gray stuff at Be Our Guest!

Most of the restaurants at Disney World require ADRs, and the most popular ones like Space 220 and Ohana fill up faster than you can say "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

So, what's the trick?

Well, you gotta be on the ball and start planning at least 60 days in advance.
And, if you're staying at a Disney World Resort, you're in luck! You can book your dining for your entire trip starting 60 days before your arrival. That means you'll have an easier time snagging those hard-to-get reservations towards the end of your trip, and you only have to set your alarm once!

Speaking of alarms, you'll wanna set yours for 5:45 am ET (yes, it's early, we know) so you can be online and ready to pounce when those ADRs drop at 6:00 am ET. And, who knows, sometimes the system might release them even earlier!

Here is our How-To Guide for Managing Your My Disney Experience Dining Reservation via the App:

Follow these steps to make dining reservations at Disney World using the My Disney Experience app:

  1. Download the My Disney Experience app on your iPhone or Android device.

  2. Log in to your Disney account. If you don't have an account, create one by clicking "Create Account" on the app's homepage.
Tap the plus button at the bottom center of the screen.

  3. Choose "Check Dining Availability" from the list of options.

  4. Verify the size of your party using the plus and minus buttons.

  5. Select the date you wish to make a reservation for.

  6. Pick the time slot that works best for you. You can search for meal times or specific times by swiping left.

  7. A list of available restaurants and time slots will appear. Choose the one you want by tapping on the time slot.

  8. Review your reservation and provide your contact information. To guarantee your reservation, you must enter your credit card information.

  9. If you have any special requests or allergies, select "Add a Special Dietary or Accessibility Request" and choose from the list of options.

  10. Check the "I have read and agree to the Guest Policies" box.

  11. Finally, tap "Book Now" to make your reservation.

So, don't wait until the last minute, plan ahead and get those ADRs ASAP.

Trust us, your taste buds will thank you!
